Although badged a Dodge, the 1990 Stealth was a re-bodied Mitsubishi 3000GT, though was a superb driver's machine. It was built on the same assembly line in Japan and uses the same chassis, engine, transmission and suspension. The latter is MacPherson struts all around with trailing arms at the rear and anti-roll bars at each end. The engine had a iron block with extra ribs for strength, while the dual-overhead cam 24v heads were aluminium alloy. In base form the engine had 164bhp (122kW), while in R/T guise it managed 222bhp (165kW). The best was the R/T Turbo, which had twin Mitsubishi TD04 turbos with intercoolers to add 10psi boost for 300bhp (223kW). Hi-tech additions were four-wheel drive and four-wheel steer, a front spoiler which lowered at 50mph (80km/h) to re-direct airflow around the car, and a rear spoiler to increase downforce.
