Ford Woody

Woodys were always regarded as the family station wagon with a country feel, until surfers found them useful for their long boards. They became firm favorites with both surfers and hot rodders, who had lifestyles that were very alike with a disregard to conforming to the norm. Most surf wagons were kept stock mechanically but just lowered and sometimes fitted with custom wheels. This 1950 Ford has taken the Woody to another level with late-model Mustang independent front suspension and a narrowed 9-inch (228mm) Ford axle located on a four-bar set-up. The power comes via a supercharged small-block Chevy with massive torque, and to put the power down the owner has fitted 13-inch (330mm) wide Mickey Thompson Pro Street Radials at the rear. The rear seat has been removed, but the interior features air-conditioning and a multi-speaker sound system.
