A rare beauty from a major car manufacture, the 406 Coupe had many people thinking it was from Italy and not France. Therein lies the truth, as the car was styled by Italian design firm Pininfarina. The Coupe was based on the 406 sedan and the top model used the silky 183ci (3-liter) 24-valve V6. The coupe managed to combine excellent street manners and a smooth ride with both sharp steering and fabulous handling. Even with front-wheel-drive, the chassis nonetheless coped with the V6's power exceptionally well, and the car could pull the speed down just as quickly, thanks to anti-lock Brembo disc brakes. Being the flagship model in the 406 range, the Coupe also has luxurious equipment with full electrics inside including seats, a 10-speaker CD system, while externally there were moisture-sensitive wipers and seven color options unique to the Coupe.
